Dr. Michael Master

Michael Master, DC, MPH, FACFN, FABCDD

Dr. Michael  Master is a practicing board-certified chiropractic neurologist and fellowship-trained functional neurologist with over 25 years of clinical experience. Due to his unique qualifications, Dr. Master attends a diverse patient population including  infants,  children,  teens,  and  adults with various complex health conditions. Clinical management is holistic and always without the use of drugs or surgery. Dr. Master's primary skill set is integrative-based patient care that is high quality, patient-centered, and attentive.

A native resident from South Jersey, he and his family relocated to the lower Charlotte area, more specifically Fort Mill, SC. He is the clinical director of Master NeuroHealth, LC in Fort Mill, SC. Prior to relocating from his busy 25-year private practice, Dr. Master had a 6-month wait list to be seen due to very high demand for his neurological consultations and the novel integrative-based services he provided. His work and clinical expertise will continue to address the various healthcare needs of children and adults in the Southeast.

Dr. Master is a Carrick-trained clinician with fellowship training and board-certification in Functional Neurology and Pediatric Developmental Neurology. He is also a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board and the American Association of Integrative Medicine. Dr. Master has over 2750 hours of post-graduate training in Neuroscience and Integrative Medicine. Dr. Master obtained his MPH degree via Liberty University's College of Health Science graduate program with an emphasis on chronic disease prevention.

Functional Neurology & Preventive Health

Dr. Master provides over 25 years of clinical experience in the fields of Functional Neurology & Preventive Medicine. Functional neurology focuses primarily on the brain and nervous system, which is considered the "master system" of the body since it controls and coordinates every cell, tissue, gland, organ, and system within the body.

The premise of Functional Neurology pertains to promoting balance, or homeostasis, within the nervous system through brain-based plasticity. Consequently, balanced brain function is followed by balanced bodily system function. The means of promoting neuro-plasticity is via receptor activation of joints/muscles (proprioceptive), visual, auditory, and/or vestibular integration. Cortical- and cerebellar-based procedures may also be employed to promote brain plasticity.

Preventive health measures are instrumental in optimizing health to the fullest. Rather than treat end-stage disease, which is more difficult to reverse and more costly, special attention is devoted to observing clinical progression toward disease through functional biomarkers. As such, Dr. Master's training includes a focus on disease prevention through functional laboratory work ups, genetic markers, and microbiome (gut bacteria) assessment when indicated.
